National Screening Service
There are 3 screening programmes for cancer:
Together 4 Cancer Concern
Together for Cancer Concern has been launched by the National Cancer Control Programme, the Irish Cancer Society, and Cancer Care West to build a virtual community of care for people who are struggling with the emotional and psychological effects of living with cancer during this very challenging and uncertain time.
The free service is available from anywhere in Ireland and can be accessed through the Irish Cancer Society’s Supportline Freephone 1800 200 700.
Marie Keating Foundation
The Marie Keating Foundation has a team of nurses and three mobile information units that can visit your workplace, community centre or town to talk about men’s health, cancer prevention and early detection. Chronic Pain Ireland (chronicpain.ie) is a national charity providing vital support, information, and advocacy for people living with chronic pain across Ireland. They offer educational resources, workshops, and peer support to help individuals manage their condition and improve their quality of life. The Irish Family Planning Association (IFPA) is Ireland’s leading sexual health charity, providing sexual and reproductive healthcare, including Early Medical Abortion services and post abortion counselling. To protect the health and safety of their clients and staff, IFPA have made important changes to the ways they deliver care.

Unplanned Pregnancy:
You need to have a pre-abortion consultation before having an abortion. Some providers offer this service via telephone or video link instead of an in-person visit. Discuss what the best option is for you with your GP or healthcare provider.
The HSE funds unplanned pregnancy counselling agencies to provide unplanned pregnancy and post-abortion counselling that is free of charge to women, their partners or a family member. All HSE-funded services provide non-directive, non-judgmental counselling. Please contact any of the services listed on the HSE website for further information.
