  • The Samaritans: Emotional support for anyone in distress or struggling to cope. Freephone 116 123 every day 24 hours a day or email jo@samaritans.ie 
  • Text 50808: A free 24/7 text service, providing everything from a calming chat to immediate support for people going through a mental health or emotional crisis. Text HELLO to 50808, anytime day or night. 
  • HSE YourMentalHealth Information Line: Phone service you can call any time. A member of the team can tell you about the mental health supports and services available to you, how to access different services provided by the HSE and their funded partners, and opening hours. Call 1800 111 888  
  • St Patrick’s Mental Health Services: St Patrick’s Mental Health Services have introduced a new homecare service for anyone referred for inpatient care, which will be delivered remotely to people in their homes. Women experiencing emotional, physical and sexual violence

Women’s Aid: 

Providing free and confidential support to women experiencing domestic violence, family and friends and professionals supporting victims of abuse. 

Women’s Aid can help you if you are experiencing emotional or physical domestic violence. 

National Freephone Helpline, call 24 hours on 1800 341 900. 

Text service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing women available daily on 087 959 7980. 

National Helpline Instant Messaging Service available on www.womensaid.ie 7 nights a week from 7pm to 10pm.  This service is run by a dedicated group of trained volunteers.

Dublin Rape Crisis Centre

The National 24-Hour Freephone Rape Crisis Helpline 1800 77 88 88 will remain open for those who need to access crisis counselling and support. 

DRCC Webchat is a free and confidential online support service for adults who have been raped, sexually assaulted, sexually harassed or sexually abused at any time in their lives. It is open to people from all over Ireland. Find more information on the webchat here

Women Who Are Carers

Many women may be under added pressure to provide care for their families and older people, even during periods of illness. This can cause anxiety and stress. It is important to look after your own mental health as well as your family’s health during this time. 

One Family:

JigsawOnline:

JigsawOnline provides mental health information for young people, their parents and guardians, and those who work with young people. Jigsaw offers a Live Chat service, AskJigsaw service and Online Group Chats for young people. You can also contact Jigsaw for support as follows:

SeniorLine:

SeniorLine is a FREEPHONE National confidential listening service for older people. Older callers can call free between 10am and 10pm every day of the year on 1800 804 591.

ALONE support line for older people, working in collaboration with the Department of Health and the HSE. Phone 0818 222 024 from 8am to 8pm.

ASI is still supporting people with dementia and their families through the following services: 

Alzheimer National Helpline has a free Dementia Nurse and Dementia Adviser call-back service. Call 1800 341 341.

LGBT Ireland: 

LGBT Ireland have a helpline for LGBT people who need support as well as an instant chat support service and peer support groups.

Transgender Equality Network Ireland:
